FAQs
what is cold/heat shock protocol?
the ultimate goal is to increase our internal temperature to activate and up-regulate the expression of heat shock proteins (HSPs). heat shock proteins are the chaperones and housekeepers to all cellular processes in our body to help protect our cell from various kinds of damage. our cells, which are our body’s building blocks, are constantly going through processes of growth and decay; too much of either is not a good thing, which can lead to dysfunction and disease. heat shock proteins, when active, help to maintain cellular homeostasis and regular cell metabolism. they do this through many complex processes, but in short chaperone the processes so that they are completed and followed through as planned, as well as housekeep and cleanup the break down and regeneration of our cells.

HSP’s have been studied to have positive effects on cancer therapy, neuro-degenerative disease, cerebral and myocardia ischemia, and inflammation (to name a few).

so, how does the heat/cold protocol look in practice?

we provoke this by providing you a cold plunge tub and a hot Finnish Sauna to alternate between. by alternating between the two, the body reacts to these elevated temperatures by regulating core temperature to return to homeostasis.
